Department of Computer Application

About The department

The Department of Computer Application began its journey in the session 2010-2011, introducing the Bachelor of Computer Application Course (self-financed) to address the educational needs of the weaker sections of Old Malda block and other adjacent districts. Currently, the department comprises one dedicated State Aided Contractual Teacher (SACT) and additional five other faculty members, including three Assistant Professors.

In addition to academic excellence, the department places a strong emphasis on value and ethics, employability, and research. Student seminars are organized every semester to enhance their skills, while a diverse range of activities, including seminars, special lectures, quiz competitions, group discussions, and career counseling programs, are arranged to provide a well-rounded educational experience. Rooted in a collaborative spirit, the department annually collaborates with the Department of Computer Science to publish a wall magazine named “ABACUS”.

Department Rules

  • Students have to abide by the rules and regulations imposed by the college.
  • Students have to abide by the departmental rules and regulations.
  • At least 75% attendance in case of theory classes are mandatory.
  • At least 85% attendance in case of practical classes is mandatory.
  • Students have to shut down the PCs after completing their lab work.
  • Students have to participate in departmental activities like special lecture, workshop, model exhibition, seminar and other cultural and academic activities.
  • Appearing in Class Test, Pre-test and Test examination is mandatory.
  • Students have to inform HoD or other teachers in case of continuous absence from the class for more than three consecutive days.
  • Students have to issue and submit instruments and lab materials within due time without any physical damage or missing components. They must enter their name in the register.
  • Students have to submit borrowing books from departmental library within 14 days otherwise Rs 1 will be collected as fine for each day.
  • Students have to switch off lights , fans ACs etc before leaving the class room.

Welcome to the Department of Computer Application

Welcome to the Department of Computer Science and Application…

The Department of Computer Science and Application started its journey with the college in 2005. Initially it offers only pass course in computer science, later this department started the Hons course also. This department also offers BCA (self financed) course. At present the department has three Assistant Professors, two Govt. approved Part-Time Teachers and one Guest Lecturer. It has one air conditioned Computer Lab with audio-visual facilities , a hardware lab and two dedicated air conditioned class rooms. This department also has departmental wi-fi access.

  • Interactive class through ppt and audio visual medium.
  • We organise student seminar, debates on contemporary issues, annual exhibition etc.
  • We organise special lectures annually by renowned academicians from across the country to make the students aware of the latest developments in the literary and intellectual fields.
  • There is a departmental Library in the department and we offer internet and printing facility to the students.
  • We invite our successful alumni to take classes that helps them to remain connected to the department.
