Introduction
The Department of Physical Education is an important part of the institution. Under the overall guidance, inspiration, and full cooperation of the Hon’ble Principal, and through the sincere support, dedication, and tireless efforts of the teachers of the Department of Physical Education, teachers of other departments, and the students, the college has developed a strong, disciplined, and vibrant sports environment. Through the collective participation, perseverance, and continuous achievements of both the general students and the students of the Department of Physical Education, Gour Mahavidyalaya has earned a special reputation and गौरव in the field of sports.
Over the past few years, the footballers, athletes, Kho-Kho players, and other sportspersons of the college have achieved remarkable success in various inter-college, district, state, and national-level competitions, thereby enhancing the reputation of the institution. The college regularly selects and sends talented and promising students to participate in important competitions, including the Inter-Government College Athletic Meet organized by the Directorate of Education, Government of West Bengal. The consistent achievements of the students in sports have further enriched and illuminated the glorious tradition and prestige of the college.
Gour Mahavidyalaya believes that sports are not merely a means of improving physical fitness; they are also one of the most effective ways to develop personality, mental growth, self-discipline, moral values, social awareness, and leadership qualities among students. Therefore, the college authority always remains committed to nurturing students’ sporting talents by providing modern training, improved infrastructure, and necessary facilities to help them move toward future success.

Games & Sports
One of the objectives of the College is to develop sports culture and enhance the efficiency of the athletes. The College has earned reputation in sports and games. The following fact sheet shows our footballers and athletes are doing better.
The inter college sports meet was organized by the Directorate of Education , the Government of West Bengal. The College selected and sent the promising students to participate in Inter Government College Athletic Meet.
